2/1/11 - NABC partners with Blue Ridge Sports to produce, promote and operate the 2012 CBE Classic and Coaches vs. Cancer Classic
The NABC will end its relationship with the Gazelle Group, which has produced the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in New York City and the College Basketball Experience (CBE) Classic in Kansas City, Missouri, after the completion of the 2011 events.
The NABC will continue to operate both the College Basketball Experience (CBE) Classic and the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The championship rounds of the CBE Classic will remain the same; they will take place on the Monday/Tuesday of Thanksgiving week at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. The Coaches vs. Cancer Classic championship rounds will move to a Friday/Saturday event and will take place in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the new Barclays Center, future home of the New Jersey Nets which opens the fall of 2012.
The NABC has partnered exclusively with Blue Ridge Sports & Entertainment, Inc., to produce, promote and operate both events beginning in 2012.
We want to alert all NCAA Division I coaches of this change and to ask that you continue to support the NABC and in particular, the Coaches vs. Cancer program and the College Basketball Experience. Representatives of Blue Ridge Sports as well as NABC Executive Director Jim Haney and Deputy Executive Director Reggie Minton, will be contacting programs and asking you to participate in these tournaments beginning in 2012.
Representatives of Blue Ridge Sports and Entertainment include:
David Gardiner, President
Lou Lacy, Vice President-Events
We are very appreciative of the Gazelle Group, which has produced these events for a number of years, and it will fulfill its contract with the NABC through the tournaments in 2011.
Thank you for your continued support of the NABC and we look forward to having your teams participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic and/or the CBE Classic in future years.
